We are parents ourselves. Hamish & Hazel both attend Manchester University at the moment . We have also been students; Gareth Studied in Manchester and myself in Leicester. So in letting properties to students we hope we have understood the needs and the character of a student. Our market research has been from our Kids and their friends and also gleaned from our knowledge as Architects and landlords for the past decade.
From the experience from Hamish's student houses he said he preferred the private landlord who he can contact and have met personally rather than an agency ( he has had both) whilst there is good and bad of both we feel we provide a personal approach to our lettings and management of the houses and with that we gain respect from the tenants towards our properties.
We check in and welcome every tenant and show them how the house and its appliances work..they find this tedious but we find it is worth it as it can avoid a lot of anxiety on both parts. We also leave a welcome pack of information should they have 'switched off' during this.
We keep a discreet but regular contact so that we are happy that they are happy.....after all they say it is the best years of their life.
